Listed below are some of the implements needed to wok with Birds of prey, some are called Furniture, It becomes easier and cheaper if you lean to make things yourself, If we are handed a bird that has Furniture attached we keep it on (ANKLETS) that is the leather wrapped around the birds legs, depending to what extent the injuries are, we make our own Leather work, To start a bit of leather Good quality, a pen to mark the leather ruler for the strait edge, something to cut the leather scissors or a chive chopper the thing with 2 wooden handles press along the line drawn on the leather and it cuts nice strait lines, or use a Stanley knife the choice is yours, all are sharp (careful), As you can see different types of jesses, and Anklets , you need a punch to make the holes and eyelets for the holes, something to Crimp the eyelets together either a screw type like the ones you see in the picture that looks like two T bars or the pliers type both these types are safe to use, once these are on the birds leg you then need a lead (strong string with a leather ring on the end, a swivels, Then a Block or Bow Perch for the bird to stand on To make leather last longer & made stronger rub on some leather feed, |

ANKLET |
The easy part is to make these Anklets, It is much harder to put them on especially if you have never attempted this before, You will need another pair of hands so go and get someone who is competent, a towel and all the tools ready before you start, Once you have hold of your bird safely, place the leather (which already has the holes punched in ready for the eyelets) around the ankle of the bird make sure any rings are on top of the anklet, put the eyelets in place and squeeze together tightly use the right size eyelet for the hole, once you have checked all is fine and tight, try and twist the anklet around the leg of the bird if you cant do this it is to small take it off and do it again. Good Luck |

ANKLET |
I have shown you 2 types of Jesses, This one is fixed to the Anklet. |
Once you have made these. Place the end marked 1 & 2 through the anklet eyelets then fold 1 over 2, holes in line place 3 through 1 & 2, you will need to use pointed nosed pliers don't be afraid to use a bit of force to pull it through, pull 3 until it pulls up all the slack (step 4) |

This type of Jesses stay on the Bird all the time. Take end 1 and fold around the birds leg put 1 through slot (B) and pull don't forget to twist the end 1 so that the leather is now upright, once through take the end(2) and pull all the way through slot (A). Use leather feed and conditioner for longer lasting leather, |
