A10s FROM DEFRA NOW COST £25 EACH Individuals, Breeders up to 15 A10 will cost £25 for all 15 AS FROM 6th APRIL 2009 If you are a breeder it is cheaper to get semi completed £25 for up to 15 A10s Forms from D.E.F.R.A. Semi complete forms allow you to register up to 15 birds on one request form. These forms are the same as applying for an A10. You must have the parents A10 number or closed ring number or any other accepted individual unique number of the parent birds.

This information sheet is intended as an informal guide to the basic legal requirements of the Wildlife and countryside act 1981 and the Cites Regulations in relation to the keeping of Owls in captivity, and their sale. You should seek your own independent legal advice on detailed points of law but we will try to offer advice if you contact us with specific Queries Tel Bird registration, GENERAL POINTS THERE IS NO REQUIREMENTS TO REGISTER OWLS and generally no licence is needed to keep them in Captivity. It is not an offence to be in possession of an owl without a certificate, whether it is ringed/micro chipped or not, providing it can be proved that it is captive-bred and not being used for any commercial gain, or that it is a disabled wild bird. It will be your responsibility to show that the bird is lawfully in captivity You can Give an owl away free to another person, it must be accompanied by a letter stating the fact it has been given as a gift, with your name and address on the letter, However, a certificate known as an ‘Article 10’ will be needed for the commercial use of an Owl if it is listed in Annex A to the EC regulations if you intend to use birds commercially (sale, Keeping for sale, offering for sale, transporting for sale and breeding for commercial purposes, displaying to the public for gain, this definition applies to all specimens listed on Annex A of the Regulations and the term ‘Sale’ includes hire, barter, and exchange, invitation to treat and other cognate expressions. |

WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 SCHEDULE 4 |

Schedule 4 lists all species of birds that are required to be registered with the Secretary of state. These are also Listed on Annex A of EC regulations 338/97 and require an Article 10 certificate for commercial use. THE FOLLOWING BIRDS MUST be registered with the wildlife Licensing and Registration Service and will be issued with a BLUE REGISTRATION DOCUMENT. |

All birds listed below are all annex A birds, and Schedule 4..... this means they need an Article 10 for any form of COMMERCIAL USE. .....,Depending on requirement of the bird TAKE NOTE OF THE CONDITIONS IN BOX 20 OF THE A10 So you will see the same bird named in Schedule 4 list and Annex A list..... Coloured in Blue are Schedule 4 birds, this means these ones MUST Be registered with a Blue registration form. |

The following owls are included in annex A to the EC regulations. All forms of commercial use are prohibited unless an Article 10 Certificate has been issued by bird registration England or another European Cites Management Authority. British A10 subject to use look in box 20 that CHANGES on how the bird was acquired. |
